The Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College is privileged to be one stop on a national touring exhibit from the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC of the First Folio of Shakespeare. This exhibition commemorates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. No original manuscripts of Shakespeare’s plays have survived. The First Folio is the first completed collection of his plays which was published in 1623. Now on a national tour you can see it at the Mitchell Gallery beginning on Nov 1 and running through Dec 4, 2016.
The gallery is open to the public from noon – 5 pm Tuesday through Sunday and 6:45 – 7:45 on Friday evenings. No registration is required and donations are graciously received when you visit. The Art Educator at the Mitchell Gallery, Lucinda Edinberg will give a lunch time talk on Nov 16 at the gallery from 12:15 to 12:45 pm.
Along with all the history to see and experience in Annapolis you can now add the First Folio of William Shakespeare’s work as a sight not to be missed when visiting Annapolis, Maryland.
