Well, March arrived in a quiet and beautiful way on Tuesday here in Annapolis. My morning walk was almost spring like. Go forward one day to March 2 and the temperature had dropped and the 20 – 30 mph winds whipping along the Severn River leaving white caps on the water made me realize that spring is not quite here yet. It will be interesting to see how the month ends – like a lion or a lamb. I hope that by the time April arrives the winter weather will be far behind us. Many years we have made it through January and February only to have to shovel the walkways the first weekend in March. Just last evening the weather forecast was for an inch to two inches of snow tonight – right on time for the first weekend in March and some light shoveling.
We are gearing up for the return of guests to Flag House Inn this month after being closed in January & February this year for some work in the house and some personal R&R. It is always a joy to have former guests returning and meeting the many new guests who will stay with us throughout 2016. It is hard to believe but this is the beginning of our 20th year as owners and operators of this wonderful Flag House Inn B&B. We have been so privileged to meet such interesting and wonderful people over the years and we know it will continue throughout 2016. Our location here in the heart of the Historic District is superb for getting around town without every having to get into your car – which you can park right here on site when staying with us.
I still remember our first weekend in March of 1997. It was St. Patrick’s Day weekend and we had a couple from Ireland staying with us. They were so excited to see the flag of Ireland flying from the front porch and thought it was because of St. Paddy’s Day but were even more please to realize it was in honor of their stay with us. That is a recurring theme here as guests enjoy finding their flag among the six flying across our front porch each day.
Just let us know and we will be happy to welcome you and have your flag flying when you arrive, too.
