This Saturday, November 14 is the last home game for Navy Football this season – and what a season it has been so far. The huge win last weekend over Memphis catapulted Navy into the top 20 in the CBS Sports poll. It was the first time in decades that Navy beat a top 20 ranked team in football. What a joy for all Navy fans to experience.
If you have never been to a home game at Navy this might be the weekend for you to watch them play. It is senior day which is always a special day for athletes and their families. So, think about coming out to the game and cheering the Midshipmen on as they play SMU at 3:30 PM in the Navy-Marine Corps stadium here in Annapolis, Maryland.
As I walked around the yard (the US Naval Academy grounds) this morning I noticed that most of the leaves have fallen or turned brown. Around some protected corners the beautiful autumnal colors still shone brightly – even with the light drizzle that was falling. It is difficult to dampen ones spirit, though, when sharing this beautiful yard with the men and women who make up the Brigade of Midshipmen at USNA. Seeing what they do as college students is truly awe inspiring and makes me proud to wish them all well, not only in the upcoming game this weekend, but in all pursuits throughout their lives as they serve our country in the military and then beyond.
