See life in the 19th century through the eyes of artists of the day. A collection of 47 watercolors showing examples of interior design from English, German, Russian, French, Italian and Austrian homes of the 1800’s is on display beginning on Sunday, August 30 and running through Sunday, October 11 at the Mitchell Gallery on the campus of St. John’s College in the heart of the Historic District of Annapolis, Maryland.
The collection of drawings delves into the development of home interiors of the period. The watercolors were a gift of Eugene & Clare Thaw to the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum which organized this exhibit. An opening reception and tour will take place on August 30 from 3:30 – 5 PM under the guidance of Art Educator Lucinda Edinberg.
Gallery hours are Noon to 5 PM Tuesday through Sunday and 6:45 – 7:45 PM on Friday. Docent tours are available (no registration needed) on Thursdays from noon to 3 PM.
