Music abound in Annapolis all year long but during the summer months, with the warm weather and long evenings, there are many opportunities to listen to music all around the city.
The City Dock area hosts artists throughout the week beginning with the US Naval Academy band on Tuesday evenings through August 11 with performances in the Susan B. Campbell park at the end of the city dock between 7 – 8:30 PM. Then on Thursday evenings the “Art in Public Places” Commission hosts musicians between 6:30 – 8 PM in the same area. Throughout the week you can stroll at the top of the City Dock next to the Alex Haley memorial and hear local musicians of numerous genres playing for your enjoyment and for some change tossed into the hat if you so desire.
A venue a bit out of the Historic District but easily accessible and one that offers quality music is the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis which is located at 333 Dubois Road. On Friday, August 28 at 8 PM Brian Ganz will be at the Church as he performs pieces by Chopin. Tickets for the performance are $15. For more information or reservations please call 410-266-8044.
If you haven’t already visited Quiet Waters Park for their Saturday evening performances you should consider doing so. Now through Sept 6 performances are hosted from 6:30 – 8PM. Bring a picnic, lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy music in this bucolic setting. Admission is free on the evenings of these performances.
A mid-week night getaway with a stop at Flag House Inn can only add to your enjoyment of these music offerings.
