Commissioning Week at USNA is over for 2014 and now we are focusing on the events that will take place in and around Annapolis this upcoming month. The usual flurry of June weddings will be part happiness in the area but I am going to focus on a few other events.
Beginning on June 23 through June 28 the 12th annual Paint Annapolis week will take place in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. You can watch artists at work, see the judging and then have the opportunity to vote in the “Peoples Choice Award”. The art will be on display at the Circle Gallery on State Circle on Saturday June 28. Items will be for sale at that time.
Interested in some classical studies this summer? If so, consider a week at St. John’s College where you can study Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, Henry James’ Portrait of a Lady, Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and Mozart’s Don Giovanni and two preceding plays. A great vacation as well as an enriching one.
The Annapolis Summer Garden Theater is in full swing and present live theater just off the City Dock every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Currently 42nd Street is playing through June 21. You will be tapping your toes to the may well know tunes including “Lullaby of Broadway”, “We’re in the Money” and of course “42nd Street”. So look on line for the dates and shows and then spend the night before and after the show here at Flag House Inn. It is just a five minute walk from our front door to the open air Summer Garden Theater.
