The first blooms on our cherry blossom trees in the backyard have popped today so it is now officially spring on Randall Street and at Flag House Inn in Annapolis. It has been a long time coming this year but these beautiful blossoms will soon be fully open and a sight to behold.
What better time for this to happen than on the weekend of the annual St. John’s vs. USNA Croquet Match on the lawn of St. John’s College. It is a time of good spirited competition between our hometown colleges and one that the students as well as the community can enjoy. If you have never attended just pack your picnic basket and blanket, get out your bright spring clothing, neck wear and chapeau and head to College Avenue around noon for this festive afternoon in Annapolis. The USNA midshipman band provides live music and the croquet match provides just the right amount of athletic activity for such an afternoon. Rain date is Sunday, April 13.
On Saturday morning, April 12, you can take part in the Crepe Paper Flower Crafting workshop at the Historic Annapolis Museum (corner of Green and Main Streets). Instructor Anne Bae will help you discover how to make soft paper flowers with details on making the petals. If hands on is not for you then be sure and stop by the Museum store to see the flowers on display. Another way to bring spring and beauty into your life. If you can’t make it to town this weekend then think of a mid-week visit and stay with us here at Flag House Inn.
