Is it spring yet? Not quite but looks like it might be just a few weeks away. We did have some warmer weather last week when temperatures got into the low 50’s. As I went for a walk on the US Naval Academy grounds I passed a bed where daffodils are planted and low and behold the green stalks were about 3 inches above ground. Get a feel of warmer weather and those bulbs begin to work their way up towards the sun. Of course, it was a false alarm when temperatures dipped back into the 20’s and we had two small snowfalls in the past three days. At least I know that the flowers are getting ready to grow and warmer weather will soon arrive.
With the spring time around the corner we are readying Flag House Inn B&B for the return of our wonderful guests. Bill and I are beginning our 18th year as owners and innkeepers of Flag House Inn and we look forward to welcoming returning and new guests throughout 2014. Over the years we have met so many wonderful people – many of whom have become very good friends – and learned so many interesting things about our guests and their lives. Being an innkeeper enriches our lives every day. We hope, too, that the lives of our guests are broadened with the people the meet while staying here at our inn.
I heard from Watermark Cruises this week that the boat rides on the bay will be beginning again in March with the weather warming up. Visitors to Annapolis should always take the time to see the city from the water as it is a beautiful sight. Either Watermark Cruises or the Schooner Woodwind sails are great ways to view the many spires of Annapolis from the water.
If you are in town this weekend and want to see a fun performance consider going to the US Naval Academy Men’s Glee Club performance of Spam-A-Lot in Mahan Hall on Friday and Saturday evenings, Feb 28 & March 1, at 8 PM or Sun, March 2, at 3 PM. The annual spring performance is great way to see the midshipmen in a new and different light and to enjoy their musical talents. For more information go to http://navyperforms.showare.
We will look forward to your visit in 2014.
