Veteran’s Day Weekend in Annapolis MD 2013

The leaves are outstanding this year although the winds we are getting today will probably bring much of the beauty to the ground this weekend as the gold, red and maroon leaves begin to fall.  The colors of autumn, so much anticipated each year, seem to come so slowly then rapidly peak and are on the ground before one realizes it.

This weekend the Navy football team is playing the University of Hawaii at the Navy-Marine Corps stadium.  If you want to see beautiful autumn leaves get a ticket to the game and look out over the lovely trees in the area around the stadium in between the exciting plays that will be taking place on the field.  We are lucky to have several couples from Hawaii staying with us at the Flag House Inn  as they anticipate the game on Saturday.  We happily fly the flag of Hawaii while they are with us this week.

One of the guests said they enjoy photographing pageantry and I told him to be sure and be at the stadium early for the “march on” which is a breathtaking reminder that all these great students at USNA are also in our military and committed to defending and protecting the US constitution every day.  Our hats are off to all of the midshipmen as well as all of the many veterans who have also served so that we can all have the freedoms we enjoy today.  Remember your friends or neighbors who are veterans especially on this weekend but also throughout the year.  For without our military our freedom would not be secure.

In honor of Veteran’s Day weekend ESPN Sport Center will be broadcast from Tecumseh Court in front of Bancroft Hall at USNA on Friday, Nov 8 starting at 9 AM through wrap up at 7:30 PM.  There will be at least two live broadcasts from the USNA set each hour so be sure and tune in and see what is being highlighted during the day.
