Plebe summer is over and the upperclassmen returned to campus this past week for the reforming of the USNA brigade. It is always a wonderful sight to see so many young women and men returning to continue their education at USNA. When I walk on the USNA yard each day I now see lots of new cars with 2014 stickers on them. Congratulations to all who are beginning another busy but fulfilling year as midshipmen at USNA.
We are getting into the lazy, hazy days of summer here in Annapolis. Although our weather has been cooler than usual these past two weeks the weather forecast is for hot and humid temperatures later this week. No one really expected it to stay in the 70’s for the rest of the summer. But, September is right around the corner and fall will be here before long.
Our guests here at Flag House Inn B&B have certainly enjoyed the cooler weather (after a sweltering July). The great thing about the Historic District of Annapolis is that you can walk to everything as well as get in and out of sites and shops when seeking a respite from the heat as you go about exploring the town. A boat ride on the Woodwind, Harbor Queen or Miss Anne also adds to an Annapolis experience.
“Into the Woods” the charming play by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim is playing at the Summer Garden Theater on Thursday – Sunday nights until September 1. If you have never seen the play you should think about doing so. It is light and fun with lots of fairy tales, that you will remember from your childhood, intertwined in the story.
