The end of summer is coming but you wouldn’t know it in Annapolis Maryland today. The streets are filled with people enjoying the warm weather and visiting the US Naval Academy, the historic homes and the many shops in town. As I was watering the beautiful hanging baskets on our front porch at Flag House Inn B&B I enjoyed watching the groups of people visiting our lovely town. If you have never been to Annapolis MD you really should consider doing so in the future. Everything is within walking distance once you are in the downtown historic district.
This weekend we have several major events taking place in Annapolis. Once is the CBYRA annual Race Week. If you aren’t sailing on one of the many boats taking place in the race week you can get an excellent view of the off shore racing from the sea wall at USNA. To learn more about the weekend go to http://www.cbyra.org/arw/
The 49th annual Drum Corp Associates World Championships are going at at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. It will be a rousing musical event that will lift your spirits as you listen to and watch the performances. The event runs through Sunday and you can get more information about the thirty groups participating in the event weekend at www.dcacorps.org
This Sunday is also our monthly First Sunday Arts Festival on West Street just off Church Circle. The one block of West St between Church Circle and Calvert Street will once again be closed to vehicular traffic and your can stroll and visit all the vendors there. The holidays aren’t too far off so you might find just the right gift to store away until you are ready to wrap it up and give it to that special someone whose day you want to brighten. For more info about the festival go to www.firstsundayarts.com
With this warm weather a delicious ice cream from one of our many shops will hit the spot. Lots of great ice cream but I like to remind folks that Annapolis Ice Cream makes their flavors fresh right on site. It will remind you of churning your own ice cream without all the work!
Have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend from everyone here at Flag House Inn B&B.
