Cherry Blossoms – Annapolis, 2017

As I sit here by our back door writing I see the first blossoms of the cherry trees in our back yard reflecting in the monitor. When the ice and snow hit the area two weeks ago the buds had only just begun forming on our trees so they were not affected by the ice that settled on the trees that day. Today they are popping out and with the temperatures expected to be in the mid-60’s by tomorrow I am sure they will be in full bloom in the next few days. So, even though we do not have a Cherry Blossom festival here in Annapolis as they do in Washington, DC, we are having our own mini festival here at Flag House Inn with the trees surrounding our downtown backyard.

Walking tours of Annapolis and the US Naval Academy have continued throughout the colder winter weather but the boat rides are beginning this weekend which means spring is definitely in the air. The Harbor Queen started today with a 45 minute tour of Annapolis harbor, around USNA and just out to the mouth of the bay before returning to the City Dock. A great way to see a city that is lovely to walk about but also so beautiful to see from the water. Put on your walking shoes and head to Annapolis for a getaway and remember to check out our availability if staying over for a night or two in town.
